Ensemble, ils enregistreront plus d\u2019une centaine d\u2019albums au cours de leur carri\u00e8re. <strong>Hozan Yamamoto<\/strong> est, quant \u00e0 lui, un joueur de Shakuhachi, fl\u00fbte traditionnelle japonaise, jouissant d\u2019une reconnaissance telle dans son pays qu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9sign\u00e9 Tr\u00e9sor national vivant en 2002. Le premier disque r\u00e9unissant les deux artistes est un live enregistr\u00e9 en 1967 lors du festival de Newport. C\u2019est un an plus tard, en 1968, que sort New Jazz in Japan, leur premier enregistrement studio. Le morceau \u00e9ponyme, qui dure plus de 20 minutes, est un jazz fusion laissant la part belle aux chorus et qui n\u2019est pas sans rappeler la musique que propose alors <strong>Miles Davis<\/strong>, dans ce qu\u2019on nommera sa p\u00e9riode \u00e9lectrique.
