Captured Tracks<\/strong> pr\u00e9sente Strum & Thrum: The American Jangle Underground 1983-1987,<\/strong> <\/em>le premier volume des nouvelles aventures de Captured Tracks<\/strong> vers les compilations. S\u2019\u00e9talant sur deux disques, Strum & Thrum<\/strong> <\/em>comprend un livret de 80 pages comprenant la longue histoire orale de la sc\u00e8ne ind\u00e9pendante des ann\u00e9es 80, une introduction par Mike Sniper et une tonne d\u2019images d\u2019archives. \u00ab\u00a0Trusted Woods\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> de The Reverbs<\/strong>, sorti en 1984, r\u00e9sume parfaitement Strum & Thrum<\/strong><\/em> : des guitares jangly qui scintillent, des voix baign\u00e9es de reverb et une section rythmique saccad\u00e9e. Inspir\u00e9e par les compilations Pebbles, Killed By Death, Soul Jazz et Numero Group, Excavations est une s\u00e9rie d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 compiler la musique oubli\u00e9e entre les ann\u00e9es 70 et 90 qui a un lien avec le son et l\u2019esth\u00e9tique de Captured Tracks<\/strong>. Les groupes sur cette compilation sont l\u2019antith\u00e8se du star system des ann\u00e9es 80 caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par des groupes comme R.E.M. ou The Rain Parade, avec un vrai esprit DIY qui les a men\u00e9s \u00e0 s\u2019autoproduire et \u00e0 jouer sur les sc\u00e8nes locales de petites villes \u00e0 travers l\u2019Am\u00e9rique. Si \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, l\u2019underground am\u00e9ricain \u00e9tait domin\u00e9 par le hardcore, cette sc\u00e8ne ind\u00e9 \u00e9tait tout aussi essentielle et utilisait les canaux de distribution mis en place par le hardcore. Les deux genres n\u2019ont peut-\u00eatre rien \u00e0 voir, mais l\u2019\u00e9thique DIY et le d\u00e9vouement \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 \u00e9taient le m\u00eame. Ce n\u2019est pas l\u2019histoire que l\u2019on a l\u2019habitude d\u2019entendre. Alors que le producteur de compilation et archiviste underground Johan Kugelberg nommait les ann\u00e9es 80 d\u2019 \u00ab \u00e9poque sombre \u00bb de l\u2019indie rock, Strum & Thrum<\/strong><\/em> cherche \u00e0 mettre en avant cette \u00e8re oubli\u00e9e de jangle rock m\u00e9lodique qui \u00e9mergea des cendres du post-punk et aida \u00e0 lancer le boom de l\u2019indie rock au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 90 qui continue aujourd\u2019hui.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
