Father John Misty est le pseudonyme de Josh Tillman, qui a enregistr\u00e9 et sorti des albums sous son propre nom depuis 2003 et offici\u00e9 \u00e0 la batterie au sein du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre groupe de Seattle, Fleet Foxes, avec lesquels il a jou\u00e9 de 2008 \u00e0 2011. Fear Fun, sorti en 2012 est son premier album sous ce pseudonyme et a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u durant une p\u00e9riode que Tillman d\u00e9crit comme un \u00e9pisode d\u00e9pressif profond qui l’\u00e9loigne de la musique pour trouver son salut dans l\u2019\u00e9criture d\u2019un roman. C\u2019est en s’exilant dans le Laurel Canyon aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du producteur et ami Jonathan Wilson et de l\u2019embl\u00e9matique ing\u00e9nieur du son Phil Eck, que Josh Tillman se lib\u00e8re de cette impasse cr\u00e9ative, donnant naissance \u00e0 Fear Fun, tel une forme d\u2019expression salvatrice. La voix de Tillman n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi juste et expressive que sur ce disque et semble sonner comme un Joy Orbison au sommet de sa joie, alors que la musique maintient une ambiance sombre et myst\u00e9rieuse. L\u2019\u00e9criture de Tillman navigue finement entre puissance descriptive \u00e0 la Bukowski et h\u00e9donisme philosophique fa\u00e7on Oscar Wilde, haussant une nouvelle fois son niveau et prouvant une nouvelle fois sa qualit\u00e9 d\u2019auteur hors-pair. Si Father John Misty s\u2019impose alors comme l\u2019expression la plus compl\u00e8te et aboutie de l’\u0153uvre de Josh Tillman, Fear Fun fait \u00e9galement figure d\u2019incontournable dans la discographie de l\u2019artiste et plus largement dans la musique folk de la derni\u00e8re d\u00e9cennie.<\/p>\n
