C\u2019est un m\u00e9lange d\u2019acoustique et d\u2019\u00e9lectrique. On y entend des \u00e9chos de <em>Come Pick Me Up<\/em>, <em>Here\u2019s to Shutting Up<\/em> et <em>Majesty Shredding<\/em>. Apr\u00e8s la col\u00e8re (plus que justifi\u00e9e) de <em>What a Time to Be Alive<\/em>, ce nouvel album parle moins de ce que nous avons perdu en ces temps difficiles et plus de ce pour quoi nous pouvons \u00eatre reconnaissants. <em><strong>Wild Lonelines<\/strong><strong>s<\/strong><\/em> renferme quelques surprises comme l\u2019apparition du saxo d\u2019<strong>Andy Stack<\/strong> de Wye Oak sur la chanson titre, les cordes d\u2019<strong>Owen Pallett<\/strong> sur <strong>\u00ab\u00a0This Night\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> ou encore les harmonies de <strong>Norman Blake<\/strong> et <strong>Raymond McGinley<\/strong> de Teenage FanClub sur <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Endless Summer\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>. Cette derni\u00e8re est une chanson pop parfaite comme on n\u2019en entend rarement &#8211; douce, lumineuse, absolument magnifique &#8211; et pourtant elle est aux prises avec la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 d\u00e9primante du changement climatique. \u00c0 cause du COVID, Mac, Laura, Jim et Jon ont enregistr\u00e9 chacun de leur c\u00f4t\u00e9, s\u00e9par\u00e9ment mais cela leur a aussi permis de faire intervenir d\u2019autres invit\u00e9s \u00e0 distance : <strong>Mike Mills<\/strong> (R.E.M.), <strong>Sharon Van Etten<\/strong>, <strong>Franklin Bruno<\/strong> et <strong>Tracyanne Campbell<\/strong> de Camera Obscura, entre autres. Certaines des chansons du disque ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crites avant que la pand\u00e9mie ne frappe, mais d&rsquo;autres, comme <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Wild Loneliness\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crites pendant le confinement et parlent de l&rsquo;isolement. La musique est une machine \u00e0 m\u00e9moires qui cristallise les souvenirs, une madeleine de Proust sonore qui nous replonge dans des \u00e9poques ult\u00e9rieures. Assur\u00e9ment dans 10, 20 ou 50 ans, <em><strong>Wild Loneliness<\/strong><\/em> nous replongera dans le m\u00eame d\u00e9lice qu&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui mais nul besoin d\u2019attendre pour s\u2019\u00e9merveiller.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>1.
