Sorti en mars 2015 comme leur troisi\u00e8me album studio, Shadow of the Sun est le r\u00e9sultat de quelques mois d\u2019une toute nouvelle approche et fa\u00e7on d\u2019\u00eatre pour le duo psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique am\u00e9ricain Moon Duo. Travaillant \u00e0 la fois dans un sous-sol sombre de Portland, et \u00e0 la surface sous le soleil de San Francisco, ces nouveaux morceaux virent de fa\u00e7on spectaculaire d’un groove \u00e0 l’autre, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant des textures sonores que le duo n’avait pas encore explor\u00e9es. La chanson \u00ab\u00a0Night Beat\u00a0\u00bb, avec son rythme de danse ouat\u00e9, est une tentative de trouver de la joie et de l’acceptation sur ce nouveau terrain mouvant, tandis que \u00ab\u00a0Wilding\u00a0\u00bb renoue avec le son si familier de Moon Duo, se r\u00e9fugiant dans un paysage de riffs hypnotiques et ancr\u00e9s. Ailleurs, le groupe s’abandonne enti\u00e8rement au voyage, se laissant porter par les rythmes flous de \u00ab\u00a0Slow Down Low\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Free the Skull\u00a0\u00bb, s’\u00e9crasant sur le tempo aux dents serr\u00e9es de \u201cZero\u201d, et flottant vers le bas, vers le bas, vers le bas, vers la brume narcotique de \u00ab\u00a0In a Cloud\u00a0\u00bb.
