Desire Choir est le premier album de Non Plus Temps, collectif de post-punk originaire d\u2019Oakland en Californie. Andy Human et Sam Lefebvre ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9crire l\u2019album en 2021. Ils ont enregistr\u00e9 la batterie et la basse sur un vieux magn\u00e9tophone dans un hangar \u00e0 l\u2019Ouest d\u2019Oakland. Influenc\u00e9 par une \u00ab\u00a0interpr\u00e9tation communiste de la musique collective\u00a0\u00bb et par les combinaisons variables de post-punk et de dub du label On-U Sound, comme ils l’\u00e9crivent dans un pamphlet accompagnant l’album, Non Plus Temps a \u00e9merg\u00e9 alors que de plus en plus de chanteurs et de joueurs cherchaient des affinit\u00e9s dans l’isolement social et l’agitation de l’\u00e9poque de la pand\u00e9mie. Le r\u00e9sultat associe divers instruments (sax et saz, synth\u00e9s et cloches) et techniques de production dans un son qui \u00e9voque un ciel de phares lumineux bris\u00e9s, comme sur \u00ab\u00a0Endless Jetty Night\u00a0\u00bb, la m\u00e9ditation nerveuse \u00e0 la Residents qui cl\u00f4t la face A. En ouverture de l’album, \u00ab\u00a0Continuous Hinge\u00a0\u00bb, avec la chanteuse Amber Sermeno, est un backbeat perl\u00e9 de l’alto \u00e9lectrique de Stanley Martinez, tandis que \u00ab\u00a0Facts Sound Like Myths\u00a0\u00bb introduit une parano\u00efa dub flippante. L\u2019album a \u00e9t\u00e9 mast\u00e9ris\u00e9 par Mike Kriebel. Non Plus Temps pr\u00e9sente des membres de Naked Roommate, the World, Famous Mammals et Preening, entre autres groupes bas\u00e9s \u00e0 Oakland.
