Issu de la petite mais dynamique sc\u00e8ne punk\/new wave de Brisbane \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es soixante-dix, Peter Milton Walsh a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 cultiver le mythe myst\u00e9rieux et lunatique qui le suivra tout au long de sa carri\u00e8re, qui l’a men\u00e9 aux quatre coins du monde. Son groupe, The Apartments, s’est form\u00e9 en 1978 et a enregistr\u00e9 son premier EP, \u00ab\u00a0Return of the Hypnotist\u00a0\u00bb, sur le label Able de The Go-Betweens. Mais avant m\u00eame la sortie de l’EP, The Apartments se s\u00e9pare et Walsh part pour New York. Pendant son s\u00e9jour, il joue avec un certain nombre de groupes et enregistre de nombreuses chansons qui serviront de d\u00e9mos pour les futurs albums du d\u00e9funt groupe The Apartments. De retour en Australie en 1984, Walsh reforme le groupe et enregistre quelques singles, dont \u00ab\u00a0All You Wanted\u00a0\u00bb. Le groupe signe avec le l\u00e9gendaire label londonien Rough Trade Records et Walsh d\u00e9m\u00e9nage \u00e0 Londres. C’est l\u00e0 qu’il enregistre son premier v\u00e9ritable album, \u00ab\u00a0The Evening Visits…. And Stays for Years\u00a0\u00bb. L’album est tr\u00e8s bien accueilli et est compar\u00e9 \u00e0 un large \u00e9ventail d’artistes tels que Cocteau Twins, Nick Drake et Bob Dylan. Bien que The Apartments et Walsh aient continu\u00e9 \u00e0 tourner et \u00e0 enregistrer avec une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de groupes, ce sont ces premiers travaux qui donnent un aper\u00e7u complet de leur son. En 2015, Captured Tracks a sorti pour la premi\u00e8re fois une collection avec \u00ab\u00a0The Evening Visits…. And Stays for Years\u00a0\u00bb ainsi que \u00ab\u00a0The Return of the Hypnotist\u00a0\u00bb, le single \u00ab\u00a0All You Wanted\u00a0\u00bb et une collection de d\u00e9mos de \u00ab\u00a0The Evening Visits…\u00a0\u00bb. Compl\u00e9t\u00e9e par des notes de Robert Forster et de Peter Milton Walsh lui-m\u00eame, cette incroyable collection de ses sept premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es d’enregistrement est \u00e0 ne pas manquer.<\/span><\/p>\n
