Pendant la p\u00e9riode de transition au cours de laquelle les principaux membres de Coil (Peter \u00ab\u00a0Sleazy\u00a0\u00bb Christopherson et John Balance) ont r\u00e9organis\u00e9 leur groupe en int\u00e9grant Drew McDowall, Coil a pris un virage radical vers l’inconnu m\u00e9taphysique. Le groupe a choisi de filtrer son identit\u00e9 \u00e0 travers le nom de guerre Black Light District, \u00e9tablissant un pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent pour leur exploration future des mondes de l’au-del\u00e0. Enregistr\u00e9 au cours de l’hiver 1995\/96, Black Light District s’appuie davantage sur les recherches formelles d’avant-garde et les int\u00e9r\u00eats acad\u00e9miques du groupe que sur son pedigree industriel. Conceptuellement abstrait, Black Light District montre que la vieille garde de Coil ne tient pas compte des rythmes pop des albums pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents et adopte pleinement sa trajectoire \u00e9lectronique exp\u00e9rimentale. Ils abordent leur m\u00e9thode de cr\u00e9ation comme quelque chose de l’au-del\u00e0, un autre royaume dans lequel les sons se brouillent et les interpr\u00e8tes semblent surgir de l’\u00e9ther.<\/p>\n
