Markus Floats, le compositeur\/producteur \u00e9lectronique d’avant-garde bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, donne suite \u00e0 son acclam\u00e9 Third Album (2020) avec Fourth Album, poussant ses compositions \u00e9lectroniques abstraites sur un terrain nouvellement \u00e9vocateur (tout en pr\u00e9servant son litt\u00e9ralisme). Partageant ses enregistrements avec un trio de collaborateurs du puissant ensemble de musique libre Egyptian Cotton Arkestra, chacun de ces musiciens a ensuite pass\u00e9 une journ\u00e9e \u00e0 improviser sur les morceaux. Le disque pr\u00e9sente le violon d’Ari Swan, le saxophone et la mbira de James Goddard, et la guitare et la batterie de Lucas Huang. Le r\u00e9sultat est une expansion fluide, brillante et dynamique de son son et de sa structure, qui continue \u00e0 trouver l’\u00e9quilibre ineffable entre l’abstraction et la soul. Fourth Album conserve une grande partie de l’\u00e9quilibre enchanteur de l’\u0153uvre pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente, tout en invitant \u00e0 un peu plus d’agitation, d’accident et d’audace, avec l’incorporation d’instruments acoustiques et d’improvisation qui s’inscrivent plus que jamais dans la formation de Markus en mati\u00e8re d’\u00e9tudes \u00e9lectroacoustiques et d’interpr\u00e9tation jazz.
