Les paroles font appel \u00e0 l’imagination de l\u2019auditeur, elles sont introspectives, mais restent ouvertes. La toile de fond indie rock montre des signes d’influence psychosoul avec une batterie s\u00e8che et percutante, des lignes de synth\u00e9 luxuriantes, et une production vocale savamment imbib\u00e9e de reverb. La voix de Michael se situe quelque part entre la s\u00e9duction d\u2019une foule, la narration \u00e0 un \u00eatre cher et la r\u00eaverie pour lui-m\u00eame. Pour cet album, le producteur et ing\u00e9nieur Adrien Olsen (The Killers, Lucy Dacus, Fruit Bats) lui a propos\u00e9 d’enregistrer avec lui. Michael Nau et le groupe ont pass\u00e9 cinq jours \u00e0 Montrose Recording et sont repartis avec l’intention de terminer quelques mois plus tard. \u00c0 la fin de leur deuxi\u00e8me session, ils avaient suffisamment de musique pour le nouvel album. Les chansons, telles qu’elles apparaissent sur le disque, sonnent telles qu’elles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9es: en direct.
