Shipping News s’est form\u00e9 en 1996 alors que Jeff Mueller et Jason Noble, anciens membres du groupe Rodan, \u00e9crivait et composait pour l’\u00e9mission This American Life de la NPR. Inspir\u00e9s par leur travail pour NPR, Jeff et Jason ont formul\u00e9 l’id\u00e9e d’un nouveau groupe. Apr\u00e8s avoir ajout\u00e9 le batteur Kyle Crabtree en 1997, Shipping News \u00e9tait n\u00e9. Les trois musiciens tirent leur nom de gorupe d’un roman de E. Annie Proulx et sortent leur premier disque, Save Everything, \u00e0 l’\u00e9t\u00e9 1997. En 2004, Todd Cook, ancien membre de Parlour, The For Carnation et Slint, est recrut\u00e9 comme bassiste. En 2005, Shipping News sort son troisi\u00e8me album, Flies the Fields. \u00c0 la premi\u00e8re \u00e9coute de Flies the Field, on peut remarquer les diff\u00e9rentes couleurs que le groupe affiche, d’une ambiance groove \u00e0 une urgence plus pr\u00e9sente, en passant par la menace subtile. En 2009, Jason a \u00e9t\u00e9 diagnostiqu\u00e9 avec un sarcome synovial et est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 le 4 ao\u00fbt 2012, \u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de 40 ans.<\/p>\n
