Apr\u00e8s deux d\u00e9cennies au sein de groupes cultes de la sc\u00e8ne punk am\u00e9ricaine, Farrar se lance un d\u00e9fi : \u00e9crire, jouer, enregistrer, sans filet. Pas pour la virtuosit\u00e9, mais pour la sinc\u00e9rit\u00e9. Cette collection de morceaux, patiemment rassembl\u00e9s au fil des ann\u00e9es, oscille entre ambient lo-fi, jazz bruitiste, no wave et drone, dans une veine aussi d\u00e9pouill\u00e9e qu\u2019habit\u00e9e. On y croise des motifs r\u00e9currents \u2013 riffs \u00e9touff\u00e9s, percussions de fortune, lignes de basse inqui\u00e9tantes \u2013 qui traversent les titres comme des souvenirs obs\u00e9dants. Entre deux instrumentaux hallucin\u00e9s, Farrar chante l\u2019amour, l\u2019exil, la paternit\u00e9 et le doute, dans une prose lucide h\u00e9rit\u00e9e de Lou Reed ou Rowland S. Howard. En guise de manifeste : faire simple, ne pas surtravailler, enregistrer ce qui vient. Le r\u00e9sultat est aussi fragile qu&rsquo;envo\u00fbtant.
