Leur premier single, \u00ab The Pictures on My Wall \u00bb, est sorti en mai 1979 sur Zoo Records de Bill Drummond et David Balfe. Le groupe gagnant de plus en plus d&rsquo;attention, ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9s \u00e0 enregistrer un set de quatre chansons pour le John Peel Show de la BBC le 22 ao\u00fbt, alors qu&rsquo;ils utilisaient encore une bo\u00eete \u00e0 rythmes. Ce fut le premier des six sets live qu&rsquo;ils enregistreraient entre 1979 et 1983 pour le spectacle de Peel. Leur premier album Crocodiles, sorti en 1980, a atteint le top 20 du classement des albums britanniques.
