Pendant plus de vingt ans, il a ainsi observ\u00e9, en t\u00e9moin privil\u00e9gi\u00e9, le r\u00f4le que peuvent jouer les chansons d\u2019amour dans nos vies. En 2020, il s\u2019associe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9crivain David Levithan pour cr\u00e9er un projet hybride : un roman musical intitul\u00e9 Songs from Other People\u2019s Weddings. L\u2019album, \u00e0 l\u2019origine, devait simplement accompagner le livre en r\u00e9unissant les morceaux jou\u00e9s lors des mariages \u00e9voqu\u00e9s. Mais au fil du processus, Lekman imagine ce qui se passe entre les chapitres, enrichissant la fiction de ses chansons \u2014 et inversement. Livre et disque \u00e9voluent ensemble, entrem\u00ealant les r\u00e9cits. L\u2019album explore ce que l\u2019on chante quand on chante l\u2019amour : l\u2019euphorie, le doute, la tendresse, la dissonance, la joie, la perte, l\u2019ironie, la gratitude, l\u2019envie d\u2019appartenir.
